Spokane, Chiefs and Portland Winterhawks
Shea Van Olm scores twice, Spokane Chiefs dig out of early hole in 7-4 win over Portland
As in Saturday’s game, the Winterhawks (13-11-2-0) got on the board first and early. Carsyn Dyck’s soft wrist shot from the top of the left face-off circle was knocked down by Chiefs goalie Dawson Cowan, but the loose puck was swept in by Tyson Yaremko for his ninth goal of the season.
WHL roundup: Spokane Chiefs win sixth in a row, down Portland Winterhawks 7-4
SPOKANE, Wash. - Shea Van Olm scored twice and had an assist for the Spokane Chiefs in a 7-4 win over the Portland Winterhawks on Sunday in the Western Hockey League. Berkly Catton and Saige Weinstein each contributed a goal and an assist in a sixth straight win for Spokane (18-9-0-0). Dawson Cowan stopped 23 saves in the Chiefs' net.
Spokane Chiefs keep rolling, extend season-high win streak
The Chiefs would have to do so without forwards Owen Martin and leading scorer Shea Van Olm as well as defenseman Nathan Mayes, who were all out with injuries. First up were the Blazers, who had defeated Spokane 4-2 in Kamloops on November 8th.
Dawson Cowan strong early, Spokane Chiefs put clamps on tired Portland in 5-1 win
An extended offensive zone possession midway through the second saw the puck eventually make its way to Will McIsaac at the right point. His shot-pass into the slot was deflected by Asanali Sarkenov and past goalie Ondrej Štěbeták for the big-bodied winger’s third goal of the season.
