Atlantic hurricane season was one of the costliest in history and was the first with multiple Category 5 hurricanes since 2019.

Between June 1 and the end of November, 18 named storms formed across the basin, with 11 becoming hurricanes and five strengthening into major cyclones. Eight hurricanes made landfall.

Despite experiencing a relatively quiet July and August, the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season still managed to spawn 18 named storms, including 11 hurricanes and five major hurricanes. A typical season sees around 14 named storms, with seven of those becoming hurricanes and 3 becoming major hurricanes.
