ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — A suspected thief gulped down two pairs of diamond earrings during his arrest on the side of a Florida Panhandle highway last week, detectives say, leaving them with the unenviable task of waiting to “collect” the Tiffany & Co. jewelry worth nearly $770,000.
Jaythan Gilder allegedly swallowed two pairs of Tiffany & Co. diamond earrings worth $769,500 after stealing the jewelry from a store in Orlando, Florida, on Feb. 26, according to the Orlando Police Department.
Officers were captured on traffic cameras chasing the swan down on the busy highway. They had to close all the eastbound lanes until the bird was captured, WESH reported. Once the swan was captured, Orlando police said it was taken to the Lake Eola House for further evaluation.
