Florida Panthers Are Dying At An Alarming Rate Thanks To Unexpected Killer
Getty Images Each year more and more species are getting closer to extinction. It seems that we are constantly adding new names to the endangered species list and it is truly saddening. Now, Florida panthers are dying at an alarming rate.
Panthers are dying at an alarming rate in Florida — and you won’t believe what’s killing them
The number of endangered panthers slaughtered in Florida has more than doubled this year — putting it on track to be the bloodiest year for the big cats in a decade. At least 30 panthers were killed so far in 2024 — almost all of which died at the hands of drivers.
Florida panther deaths more than double from previous year
Data from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission shows that 30 Florida panthers were found dead through the first 11 months of 2024. In 2013, only 13 big cats were found dead in the Sunshine State.
