STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A flurry of posts to social media and the Neighbors function on Ring hit phones across Staten Island in recent days after more mysterious, car-sized drones flew over the borough. The influx of the hovering drones began plaguing New Jersey in November, but quickly spread to Staten Island.

As "mystery drone" videos continue to go viral online, frustration over the unidentified drones is increasing. NBC News' Gadi Schwartz looks into the mystery and speaks to Mine Hill Township Mayor Sam Morris about the objects that are taking over the New Jersey sky.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The FBI officially expanded its drone investigation to include Staten Island after the unmanned aircrafts began appearing in New Jersey skies last month. The 15-foot-long drones have been prowling the skies above the borough for days now, sparking concern from elected officials and residents alike.

Drones have been spotted flying around New Jersey for several weeks. The sightings started in Morris County and then moved elsewhere throughout the state.
