As Illinoisans return to the office after the holiday season, their Monday blues might be further magnified by lake-effect snow on the tail end of a major, disruptive snowstorm that slammed the central United States and by below-normal temperatures later in the week.

A winter storm is moving through Central Illinois on Sunday, with snow falling in Peoria and Bloomington Sunday morning. Most of the southern half of Illinois is under a Winter Storm Warning.

(WAND Weather) —Central Illinois' first big snowstorm of the season exited Monday morning. Moderate to heavy snow fell across much of the area Sunday morning through early Monday. As we expected, the heaviest of the snow was around Interstate 72 southward. Much of this area picked up 5-10" of snow.

Snow finally made an appearance in Peoria, albeit a bit later than originally forecast. As of 6:30 p.m. Sunday, light snow had begun to fall in the city and surrounding areas — a departure from other regions of the state,
