Normally, the second-tier prize for Mega Millions is $1 million. The ticket sold in Florida, however, was worth $5 million because it included the optional Megaplier, which is available for an extra $1 purchase, and on Tuesday it was 5 times the prize amount, officials said.

The next draw for the Mega Millions jackpot is set for Friday, with the fifth-biggest lottery prize of the year at stake.
