Cheatham Middle School unveiled its new mascot, named after Xavier University, on Monday after University of Cincinnati threatened legal action over Bearcats usage.

Last month, Cheatham Middle School, located about 30 miles outside Nashville, Tennessee, received a cease-and-desist letter from UC, which threatened legal action over using the university's mascot. School officials said the letter concerned copyright and licensing infringements,

For 26 years, Cheatham Middle School was the home of the Bearcats, now, it’s chosen the name of a rival school of the University of Cincinnati following a Cease and Desist letter from the collegiate Bearcats.
